Festive Christmas Snacks 🎅

We've got your 'bring a plate' sorted this Christmas with these festive snacks! Sure to be crowd winners, no matter the Xmas occasion!

Peanut Butter and Celery Reindeer

Ingredients

  • 1/2 bunch celery

  • Smooth peanut butter*

  • Pretzels

  • Small cherry tomatoes, cut into half

  • White chocolate buttons (small)

  • 1/2 cup icing sugar

  • 1 Tbsp hot water

  • 1 tsp cocoa

Method

  1. Cut celery into appropriate lengths and wash

  2. Spread peanut butter into the groove of the celery sticks - the amount you need will vary, based on length and width of each stick

  3. Break pretzels into pieces. Place at the top of celery sticks to resemble antlers. The peanut butter will help to hold these in place

  4. Add white chocolate drops to celery sticks as the outer of the reindeer eyes. If these are not sticking well, spread extra peanut butter on the back as 'glue'

  5. In a small bowl, mix icing sugar and cocoa with water to create a paste.

  6. Pour the mixture into a piping bag and pipe a small dot onto the white chocolate drops, to create the eye of the reindeer

  7. Add cherry tomato to the bottom of the celery stick to create the reindeer nose.

*Peanut butter can be replaced with an alternate nut/seed butter when allergies are present

Vege Christmas Trees

Ingredients

  • 2-3 carrots

  • 1 cucumber

  • Edam cheese

  • Toothpicks

  • Small star cookie cutter (optional)

Method

  1. Peel carrots. Cut horizontally into 2cm circles (start at the thicker end of the carrot).

  2. Peel cucumber lengthways (using a peeler) to make long ribbons (discard the first peel which will be completely green).

  3. Carefully fold one strip of cucumber back and forth, starting with small folds and getting gradually bigger.

  4. Push the folds together, and insert a toothpick to skewer them from top to bottom.

  5. Insert the bottom of the toothpick into carrot piece so this makes up the base of the tree.

  6. Either by hand or using a cut-out shape, cut cheese into a star shape. Add to the top of the tree (attached to top of toothpick)

Banana Santas

Ingredients

  • Bananas

  • Fresh Strawberries (for hat)

  • White Marshmallows (for hat)

  • Red M&Ms (for mouth)

  • Dark chocolate drops (for eyes)

  • Skewer

Method

  1. Peel bananas and cut in half (horizontally) to make the body of Santa (one banana should make 2 Santas).

  2. Insert the skewer through the middle of the banana lengthways. The pointed part of the skewer should end up at the pointed part of the banana (the head of the Santa)

  3. Add a large marshmallow to the top of the skewer - this will sit on top of the pointed end of the banana

  4. Cut the leaves off of the strawberries and wash the remaining edible part of the strawberry. Add strawberry to the skewer - this will sit on top of the marshmallow.

  5. Add a small marshmallow on top of the strawberry.

  6. Add 2 chocolate drops to create the eyes*

  7. Add a red m&m as the nose.*

*You can add peanut butter to the back as 'glue' so they don't fall off, if needed
